Hey everyone,

I'm sure these sorts of questions pop up here all the time, but I'm still a bit hazy on the config for the network configurations so I thought I would ask. I'm trying to set up a virtual lab for pen-testing practice; I'm part of a collegiate competition. I have several VM's and all of them need to be on the same LAN and have internet access. If I run in NAT, all the VM's have the exact same IP and there is no communication between them. If I run Host-Only, I get a LAN, but no internet. Just wondering if i can get a point in the right direction.

If you have a router then use bridged. If not then use host-only so the host and guests can communicate and add a second adapter set to NAT for the guests that need Internet Access.

Thanks, was hoping I woulndt have to move my router back in here, but o well, thanks for the help. Didn't know if there was a way to tweak NAT to put all the clients into the same network.

If you want to have a configurable NAT, run your own. Put the clients in the internal network (which has no connection to any NIC in the host) and run NAT software on the host, or run a vm as a NAT router between the virtual and physical networks.
