Make VB hotkey transparent?

What I want to do here is to combine a virtual desktop manager with VB, creating a seperate, virtualized OS in full screen mode on each virtual desktop.
Now, to make this work I need to communicate with the host OS through the full-screened virtual OS via hotkeys, is this possible? Or is there any other way to reach through without leaving full-screen?

Just hit the Host key once, then all keyboard shortcuts defined on the Host will work. E.g. I have set ctrl+alt+t to open a terminal on the Host and Guest. When I use it without pressing the Host key, the Guest will open a terminal. I hit the host key, then the combination again and the Host opens a terminal.
