I have installed VirtualBox 3.2.6 on an iMac running OS 10.5.8. VirtualBox launches but the installation wizard does not see the Windows XP install disk. I have done a cold start and that made no difference. I also have Fusion 3.1, which has its own problems, but software installation is not one of them. I'm stumped.

You can try enabling Passthrough in the guest settings.
Or you can try making an ISO Image.
It must be a bootable CD! Recovery Disks dont work.

Re: VirtualBox installs on iMac but XP will not install
Thanks for the reply. I have an ISO image but Virtual Box does not accept it. Here's the message returned:
Failed to open the CD/DVD image
Could not open the medium
VMDK: error reading the magic number . . . (VERR_IS_A_DIRECTORY)
VD: error VERR_IS_A_DIRECTORY opening image file
Failed to open the CD/DVD image
The virtual machine is not powered up
=========
There is a separate (black) window called VBOX (Running), which displays the following:
FATAL: No bootable medium found! System halted.
=========
I don't see a reference to Passthrough in any of the Settings panels
Failed to open the CD/DVD image

Re: VirtualBox installs on iMac but XP will not install
Passthrough is for native CD access. For an ISO this is not needed.
I think you dont have a correct XP CD.

Re: VirtualBox installs on iMac but XP will not install
The CD successfully installed on a real Windows machine earlier this month. Thanks.
