Accessing Canon MF4660PL scanner

Hi,

I'm using VB 3.2.6 on my Linux machine to run W$ XP.
Moreover, I would like to use the scanner of my Canon MF4660PL multi-fonction printer.

I can access my printer which is connected via a network cable.
But the scanner remains inaccessible.
I use Canon MF toolbox 4.9 software.

Is there someone here who configured such a printer ?

If the scanner is used via Network and if you use bridge, this is not a VBOX Problem.

Hi Stephan,

The printer is connected to my Linux machine via a little switch (HUB).

When I use a real Windows machine (connected to this switch too), all works fine.
It's only with VB that the scanner becomes inaccessible (while the print function works fine).

Which networkadapter (brige, nat, hostonly)?

And try disabling firewall in windows guest.

Hi,

Stephan:

The firewall is already disabled.

fixedwheel:

I am not an expert of VB, so I give you (attached files) screenshots of my VB network settings.
Hoping that it answers your question.

All IP adresses that you can see on these sreenshots are by défault (I didn't configure anything).
The IP of my printer is 192.168.0.4

hi,

NAT, thats the default and connects the guest into its own private net behind your private net, like my SOHO Router connects my private 192.168.1.x net with address translation to the internet - means: the guest can connect to outside but there is no way from outside without port-forwarding

you probably want to set to "bridged" instead NAT then the guest can act like any other machine in your network

these settings from your screenshot #2 and #3 only apply to "host-only" type and have no meaning for bridged or NAT

edit, screenshot where to set "bridged"

Hi fixedwheel,

Thanks for your reply ;-)

I'm going to test all network configurations. But I think that the problem is somewhere else because from W$ (under VB) I can ping my printer. Thus I do not think that it is a problem of network. But I am going to test.

The other solution will be to buy a long USB cable to see if it works better...

yes it can reach outside the NAT, but the scanner can not reach your Windows behind the NAT

"bridged" should be your friend
