Fedora 13 Hangs

Post by nonamehere »

I'm not sure if this should go in the Windows host section or here...

I'm running version 3.2.6 on a Windows 7 64bit host with Fedora 13 64bit as a guest and the guest additions installed. The guest periodically stops responding to input and has to be shut down. Here are what I think are the relevant log entries (full log attached), any ideas? I've tried setting the hard drive as both SATA and IDE.

Code: Select all

Are you using multiple processors? If so, try with one processor. There are a few of us having issues when using multiple processors, especially on Clarkdale/Arrandale (core i5 & i7). I think it's related to the way the Intel chips will shut down cores to save power/increase performance, although it doesn't seem to afflict Ubuntu.

Yes, I am using multiple processors (i7 980x, 4 cores for the guest). Unfortunately, I am trying to run calculations and so being stable with only one processor is useless to me. I went with Fedora because I'm most familiar with it, but if it isn't an issue with Ubuntu I'll give that a shot.
