IDE or SATA?

my hard disk of my real machine is a SATA hard disk.
Now?I install guest os on virtualbox.
But?which type of virtual hard disk should I choose?
IDE or SATA?
Which type is faster?

It's faster, but how much faster? There have been benchmarks here and it showed that it isn't really noticeable. You may notice it when you copy very, very big files and monitor the speed, but that's about it. It also depends on the OS you want to use it on. It's of little use to use SATA if the OS doesn't support it

I have tried your suggest,and I found you are right.
In my virtualbox,unusually,the virtual IDE is faster than the virtual SATA.........................
I think the reason is that SATA is Serial?but the IDE is Parallel.
In a real environment,the IDE is interfered just because it is Parallel.So the IDE's frequency is limited.
But in virtualbox which is a virtual environment, there is not any jams.So the IDE is faster than the SATA.

That's not at all correct.
SATA vs PATA has a huge difference. It is not as much in a virtual environment but it does have benefits.

But I have tried many tests.The result is still that the virtual IDE is faster than the virtual SATA.
For example:
If I choose virtual IDE,the process of boot of my virtual win7 spend about 30s.
If I choose virtual SATA,the process of boot of my virtual win7 spend about 50s.
If I choose virtual IDE,the process of copying in virtual win7 is also faster than the virtual SATA.
I don't know the reason exactly.But I guess that the reason is that I said upon.

This article is talking about a real environment,but no a virtual environment.
I think there is not any limited in a virtual environment,because in a virtual environment,
there is not any real cables,
there is not any real attenuation of signal,
there is not any real length of 18 inches of cables....
So,i think a virtual environment is the reason of why the virtual IDE is faster than the virtual SATA.
