Hi all,

I am a newbie to virtual box. My question is the following: is it possible to "force" the virtual box in full screen mode and sort of lock it there? I have ubuntu and on top of that I want to run windows. I don't want the user to be able to minimize the virtual box and go back to ubuntu. is that possible? Another question, is it possible to trick the system in a way that the user doesn't even know that he is running windows in a virtual machine? This is sort of full screen mode without showing any additional details.

Thank you in advance for your help

Hey . . . I've been working on the same project for myself as a proposal to the company I work for. Every time a windows machine blows up, the usual fix is a pave and plow . . . and then a full day of restoring apps, network shares, email etc etc etc.

I want to deploy a basic Linux host os (probably Redhat for the support) and then have the machines auto log in and launch VB with a windows VM. I won't bore you on the linux side of the setup as you've probably got that figured out.

On the VB side, this command will do the trick:

Code: Select all

VBoxSDL -fullscreen -vm <vm name>
VBoxSDL will only provide a simple window that contains only the "pure" virtual machine, without menus or other controls to click upon and no additional indicators of virtual machine activity

Correct me if I'm wrong but on Ubuntu based distro's I believe you can set the machine to "auto login" . . . so modify their profile to auto run the above command and bobs your uncle.
