Hi,

I want to run a apache web server in a virtual machine but i want to be able to access it from the internet, right now i can only access it from the local machines on the network.

Im currently behind a wireless router using dhcp (i dont plan on running the server 24/7 just for a few hours)

Using windows xp as host and ubuntu 10.04 as guest running apache, vbox network settings are on bridged.

Problem is when i type my external faceing IP i dont get my server, but if i type its local IP from any machine on the network it works fine.

My question is how do i get to access the web server from the external faceing IP? so its like a real web server.

You would forward the port (usually 80) to the private address that is assigned to the guest from the router.
