The io cache encountered an error

Hi,
I have a Win7(64) guest inside a Ubuntu 64 bit host running virtualbox. When I try a large file copy on the windows guest I get the following error:
>The I/O cache encounteres an error while updating data in the file ..... (rc=VERR_DEV_IO_ERROR). Make sure there >is enough free space on the disk and that the disk is working properly. Operations can be resumed afterwards..
Unfortunately it freezes there and cannot be resumed or anything. There is plenty of disk space on the host and in the guest hdd file. Any assistance would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Kim

Interesting relocated the vdi to another physical hard disk and the problem disappeared. This feels like a problem I might encounter in the future. Thoughts?

2.6.24-26-generic
hmm, thats probably
not the
VBox-on-ext4 bug
you could post the VBox log of the frozen session if still available

hmm, i can hardly see more useful information than the error message you already posted ...
guesswork: there are still other filesystem constraints than bare space, what about inodes?
