Solaris host with 4 disks

Hi all,

here is what I am trying to do: I want to install solaris x86 on two hard disks, then mirror them (RAID1) using two more disks.
The problem is that to start installation I need cd driver under IDE controller, but the controller supports only tree more disks, not four. Moreover, it seems that solaris doesn't see disks attached to other kind of controllers, such as scsi for example.
So my idea was to start with cd plus two disks, install solaris on the two disks, then remove the cd and add two more disk drives.
Do you think this will work? Solaris will recognize the two new disks, or I should setup something from the console (that in VirtualBox isn't accessible... right?)

Sorry if I said something stupid, I'm just a neewbe.

Thank you all

I know that you can install OpenSolaris to a mirror. I dont know if you can install it on 4 discs. Regarding Solaris 10, I suspect it is the same?

I suggest you try to install Solaris on one drive to see that it works. Then you can maybe follow the same procedure as OpenSolaris uses, to install it to a mirror. Google for more information.

What is the purpose? What are you trying to do? Please tell me more.

Well, thank you.

I just needed to practise mirroring before doing it on live system...

Never mind, I skipped the practise phase and went straith on to the live one :)
