Working with Differencing (Immutable) Disks

Hello,
I've been working with vbox for a little while now, and would now like to take advantage of differencing disks, but I seem to be completely lost in doing so.

I've done the following steps:
1. Create a new vm, and built it to my desired specs.
2. Marked the disk as immutable using vboxmanage modifyhd <disk> -type immutable. It shows as immutable in the gui.
3. Now I'm stuck....

How do I create a new VM/disk, and tell it that the parent is the disk I created in step 2? When I create a new machine/disk in the gui, i only get an option to create a dynamic or fixed disk, i never get to 'chain' it to a parent vdi.

I've scoured the help file, this board etc, and have done this successfully on other vm platforms. I just need a nudge here to figure out what fundamental step I'm missing.

Thanks,
Tim

I don't think the GUI shows the child media of the differencing disks. Anyway, you just need to mount the disk you made immutable on any machine you want. VirtualBox automatically creates the child media, which are, by the way, stored in the folder of the vm :)
