hostonly dhcp server problem : 2nd post

Post by mr.wu »

I posted earlier that dhcp server for hostonly adapter keeps assigning different IP to the same virtualbox with same adapter/same mac address.

Does nobody have an idea on how to fix this? It's extremely annoying.

1. vbox has hostonly adapter; there is a reason why people want to use it. threads you post seem to advocate to use other adapters. i use hostonly adapter for a reason.
2. vbox hostonly adapter comes with dhcp server. a good dhcp server can be made to assign the same ip to same mac address. why can't this dhcp server built-in with vbox behave like a good dhcp server.
3. other threads mention using static ip. i would like to rely on dhcp server for a reason not because i don't know there is such thing as static ip.
