Share network on Ubuntu 10.04 guest

Post by ccafiero »

Hello, I've a Windows Seven host and Ubuntu 10.04 guest and I'd like to solve this problem:

1- How can I use the shared folder in Seven. I've just decided my Desktop directory as share directory, but In Ubuntu/Nautilus/network i can't view my Seven's Desktop directory. What is my mistake?

2- It's possibile to point to a share directory not in the host server but in its network. For example. Host ip: 192.168.1.100 and the shared directory is in 192.168.1.200//MyFolder

Thanks alot :D

Ciao!

1- See Howto: Use Shared Folders. That should get you going.

2- Sure that's possible. The VM will have no problems connecting to that share as long as it's using NAT or Bridged. If the share is on the Guest and you want the rest of the network to access it, Bridged is the only method that will make it work (only if you're not directly connected to the internet, so you need a router to create a private network).
