CentOS 4.6 boot probes non-existent hard drive devices

Post by daleforester »

The boot up for centos 4.6 takes a long time and it's probing non-existent devices. This is something that does not occur under vmware.

For example:

hdf: probing with STATUS ...

hde: failed opcode: unknown

etc.

Why is it taking a long time probing devices that don't exist?
