No sound on guest

I get no sound output or input on the guest. Device Manager has a yellow exclamation point on Multimedia Audio Controller.
Host is Mac OS X 10.6.4, guest is Windows XP SP3.
I tried updating the driver both using Windows XP drivers and downloading Realtek drivers, nothing works.
I have the Audio setting set to CoreAudio, ICH AC97. The only other options are Null driver and Soundblaster 16 controller, but no combination works.
