Guest Additions

Post by GWS »

I have just installed VirtualBox 3.2.6 on Mac OS Snow Leapard and am using it to run Windows 7. I cannot seem to get the shared folders feature working at all. I have followed all the installation directions and have the shared folder designated on my Mac and in VirtualBox. I am reading in the manual that I need to install Guest Additions and where it should be located but my download of VirtualBox does not have Guest Additions located in the place where the manual says it should be.

I am seeking any and all suggestions to get this solved. Thanks.

In the manual it says: Back in the Virtual Media Manager, select that ISO file and press the “Select” button. This will mount the ISO file and present it to your Windows guest as a CD-ROM.

Where is this "select button"?

Without page/chapter references, I do not know what you are reading.

However, with your VM running, select on menu bar Devices --> CD//DVD Devices --> More CD/DVD images

This brings you to Virtual Media Manager and a 'Select' button and a 'Cancel' button

Actually all you should need to do is (in the guest) click the devices tab and then select install guest additions. This will mount the guest additions and in Windows usually auto loads and runs them. If nothing happens then click the devices tab and go to the CD/DVD and click unmount. Then click install guest additions again.
