zc.buildout fails in virtualization

Hello, I'm using Centos 4.8 inside the guest virtualization and I just spent the past two weeks tearing my hair out trying to do a successful buildout which always crashed trying to install lxml 2.2.4. My boss suggested I simply try doing it on the server to see if it works and it did. I would like to be able to virtualize this process in order to ensure there are no bugs that can occur on our site development and I am wondering if there is a specific setting that I can change on Virtualbox that would allow me to buildout properly or if I should throw virtualbox out the door?
