I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 X86_64 on a Windows 7 host using NAT. The network in the guest works for 2 to 24 hours and then quits working (no traffic in / out, no DNS, no ping to host, etc). This problem has been present since the last 3.1.x release, I'm currently running 3.2.4 with guest additions installed.

Things that fix it
-Guest reboot
-Machine -> Close -> Save the machine state ... then a machine start

Things I've tried that don't work:
-ifdown / ifup cycle
-Disable / Enable network with the Network Manager
-Devices -> Network Adapters -> uncheck and recheck Cable connected box

What else can I try to troubleshoot this?

I haven't dug into syslog yet, I suppose thats my next step. Any idea of what to look for?

Is it worth trying to bridge the connection?

From you description is sounds like the guest is not the cause. More then likely the host or the network drivers from VirtualBox. I know there were some NAT fixes listed in the new change logs and one of them just might be your problem. Try upgrading to VirtualBox 3.2.6 and see if it fixes your problem.

FWIW syslog has no relevant entries from the latest failure.
