Can't Use USB In Ubuntu

VirtualBox is installed on Windows 7 and the guest os is Ubuntu. I installed the guest os addition on Ubuntu but I'm not sure if it installed correctly because I'm not able to share USB devices with my host os.

Sometimes when I turn on the guest os a thing pops up in windows saying that it's trying to install drivers for "VirtualBox USB" but there is always an error that says "Device Unplugged".

I'm trying to connect my iPod to the guest os so I can install openiboot onto it but whenever I try to install it on my iPod I get a message in the terminal that says device is not open or connected. My other devices such as my flash drives and external hard drive are not showing up.

How can I get the VirtualBox USB to work correctly?

Your profile says you are running the OSE version of VirtualBox. If this is correct, the OSE version does not support USB. You need to download and install the PUEL version.

The profile is probably ignorance due to never reading the VirtualBox FAQ.
The little to no information in the post is because the user ignored the warning when creating this topic stating he/she should read the Forum Posting Guide.

I figured it out by myself.

Thanks for the help! :)

Would be nice for others to mention how you fixed it or what you did at least.
