Since upgrading to the 3.2.4 (3.2.4r62467) from the 3.1.x version that I was using previously, my vanilla Windows XP guest environment aborts pretty frequently.
Before the upgrade, I had few problems with my XP environment, but now it's almost not useable. I'm worried a lot about losing work from the frequent aborts.
I don't even need to run any applications. Just now I only booted the XP partition and hadn't even opened any applications yet when it aborted.
I'd like to help track down the problem, but could use a bootstrap on standard procedure for this sort of thing. Is there a FAQ that describes how to best collect logging or debugging information to report back to the developers?
Thanks
OSX host XP guest, frequent aborts

Hi Crusso,
Check out => http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=31913
Is your situation similar? You might try turning off 2D/3D acceleration if you are using them with the current VBox version.

I have the exact same problem. Not sure what Oracle updated as far as bug fixes go but it has rendered my virtual box useless. I suggest you download an older version that you know worked and keep using that one.

No, I have never enabled 2D or 3D acceleration. I just double-checked the settings.HipHoppity wrote: Is your situation similar? You might try turning off 2D/3D acceleration if you are using them with the current VBox version.
Thanks for the try, though.

Re: OSX host XP guest, frequent aborts
I'll try that. Do you know if there are any incompatibilities that can arise by downgrading my vbox version? Do I have to downgrade the guest additions as well?Forlio wrote:I have the exact same problem. Not sure what Oracle updated as far as bug fixes go but it has rendered my virtual box useless. Re: OSX host XP guest, frequent aborts
It would be a good idea to uninstall your VBox 3.2.4 Guest Additions for a downgrade to version 3.1.8.
