WinXP Pro x64 stuck at "Setup is starting Windows"

Post by rickygai »

Here is the current configurations:

VirtualBox: 3.2.4 r62467
Enabled IO APIC
Processor 1
Enabled PAE/NX
Enabled VT-x/AMD-V
Enabled Nested Paging
RAM: 1024
Video Memory: 128
Enabled 3D Acceleration
Disabled Network
Disabled Serial Ports.

Host PC: Win7 Ultimate x64, 4GB RAM, CPU: C2D P8600 2.40ghz.
Guest OS: WinXP Pro x64

When started the VM, the guest OS hangs at message "Setup is starting Windows" of blue text screen mode.

Please advise.

I'm having the same problem (I hate it when ppl say that and they really aren't, but I really am)!

I just installed Virtual Box 3.2.4 and tried to install Windows XP 64 bit and I get stuck at the same place. I've tried changing certain settings to no avail. I've even tried the fix for Windows 2000 (the one where you modify the virtual machine with the command 'vboxmanage setextradata "machine name" "VBoxInternal/Devices/piix3ide/0/Config/IRQDelay" 1') but that didn't help.

VirtualBox: 3.2.4 r62467
Enabled (tried to disable but doesn't work) IO APIC
Processor 1 (tried 2 but also didn't work)
Enabled PAE/NX
Enabled VT-x/AMD-V (again, doesn't work when disabled)
Enabled Nested Paging (same, doesn't work disabled either)
RAM: 2048
Video Memory: 128
Disabled 3D Acceleration
Disabled Network
Disabled Serial Ports.

Host PC: Win7 Professional x64, 16GB RAM, CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 870 @ 2.93 GHz.
