unexpected behavior of linux guest when macbook goes to slee

Post by mr.wu »

I have virtualbox 3.1.8 on Mac OS10.6.3. Guest is centos 4.8. Recently my macbook went to "hibernate/suspend" mode when its battery was almost depleted. At the time the guest was running. When the macbook wakes up the guest was in "saved" state. I had had this experience before but only this time I notice that guest clock is off by many hours. I had to poweroff the guest because i didn't want to set its clock manually.

Is this expected behavior under virtualbox? Since I use linux for servers only and didn't have experience of linux box going into hibernate mode and no idea this is how a linux on a physical machine would behave that way but I doubt it.

Is this peculiar to my old linux distribution?
