vdi location

Post by VBnovice »

I have a problem with permission of where to place a vdi on my hard drive.
I'm using virtualbox in Windows 7 home premium, 64 bit and installing Ubuntu as a guest.
I've already done this once successfully with the vdi installed in my Windows 7 users area. However I prefer to have the vdi in a separate partition I created for it on the hd (don't ask why). So I deleted the previous installation and tried to install to this empty partition (U:\). I could not do so and get a popup message that says
"U:\Ubuntu.vdi
You don't have permission to save in this location.
Contact the administrator to obtain permission.

Would you like to save in the _user_ folder instead?"

I am running as administrator in Windows 7. How do I get around this?

Thanks.

Create a folder in U:\ called Ubuntu. then save to U:\Ubuntu\
Make sure that the folder has the proper permissions. Oh and you are acting as the admin and not the Administrator (God) mode unless you activated the Administrator account and you really should not do that.
