HELP! ERROR: Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)

Can you help me in NON-TECHY terms and let me know how to get my Virtual machine to open?!

When I try I get this error:
Result Code:
NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)

I'm on a Mac and here's what happened:

My machine was low on memory so when I tried to save, it put me into pause mode. I cleared some space off, but then for the life of me I couldn't get it to resume, so I had to do a "force quit".

When I reopened I got the above error.

I tried uploading the newest version of VirtualBox, but I'm still getting the error code.

I HOPE my files and all my work will still be there when I get back in!
