Editing JPEG metadata from guest OS - iPhoto problems?

I'm planning to use Geosetter (
http://www.geosetter.de/en) in XP/7 guests to edit metadata in my pictures which are stored on the host (snow leopard). I'm not sure if this will cause any issues...??? I'm using iPhoto and it doesn't really touch the originals. When I edit the metadata I want to edit the originals and hoping it will automatically be incorporated in the iPhoto "copies".
Things I want to edit includes
-date taken (I have lots of scanned old pictures where date taken= day scanned)
-geographic data (coordinates etc)
and many other things
Can anyone see a problem doing this or should I just edit the iPhoto "copies"? Is that even possible?
I haven't got the guest OS set up yet so I have no idea what issues I might encounter.

Do you by chance have a question about VirtualBox that we can answer? We do not support either of those programs that you have mentioned.

Well, I was assuming this was a forum for virtualbox on a mac OS host users. I didn't ask how to use GeoSetter. I was also assuming some mac OS users here would at least be somewhat familiar with iPhoto and possible consequences to my query. I was asking about editing files stored on a host OS from a VirtualBox guest OS. That was my intention at least. I mentioned the programs just to add some information. Everywhere else you get flamed if you don't specify in details what apps are involved in your query. Where else would I ask my questions? On a Mac forum? And get flamed for wanting to use a windows app...

Well hopefully you will not get flamed here. Most of the people here are shall I say a little more friendly. Anyway the question still remains, are you having problems with VirtualBox? You should be able to use the shared folders to access the files in question. Can you access them?

As I mentioned in my 1st post I haven't actually set up my guest yet (I need to get the XP installation disc first). My query was more to prevent me doing anything stupid as I have done many times before. I have read warnings about messing with the originals files on a mac (I'm very new to mac too). Just wanted to ask first. And as i'm new to VirtualBox, I'm not even sure what I want to do is possible/advisable.
I'll make sure I share folders before I go ahead trying to access files from my (future) guest.

What you want to do is possible from a guest with shared folders setup. iPhoto won't pull from the original again, but when you visit your Pictures folder in your guest, you'll see the iPhoto Library is just a folder (Mac hides a lot of "files" that are really folders when viewed on another operating system) and you can edit the metadata. Unless iPhoto keeps a separate database of metadata (I don't think it does), the change will be reflected.
If you still need help with shared folders after reading Chapter 4.4 of the user manual, come back to the forum!

Thanks Entegy, that was good to hear
I'll give it a try as soon as I get the XP installed (I'm stuck in the middle of the install

and I'm waiting for replies in another thread to get me through)
