v3.2.0 on Leopard hangs trying to setup share in Tiger VM

v3.2.0 on Leopard host hangs while trying to setup share folder in a new Tiger VM
the hang occurs when "add share" opens, before any selection is made
... also at least once had an unexpected "connection failed" error at that time
This is on a Mac Mini, 2006, under 10.5.8
