Error: Failed to access the USB subsystem

On a Vista-Business-host I've two virtual machines, one with Windows 2000 and one with Windows XP.
When I open the settings-dialog, I get since yesterday an Error: Failed to access the USB subsystem.
After clicking ok, the settings-dialog opens without an USB-section.
Till yesterday, usb worked without problems. And I think, I don't have changed anything on my system.
I've tried the windows-tip for removing the LowerFilters in the registry, but no change, error still available.
Any one any idea?

Could not load the Host USB Proxy Service (VERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND).The service might be not installed on the host computer.
