(MacOS) Virtual Interfaces on VirtualBox

Post by nocturn »

Wondering if anyone else has tried this --

Running VirtualBox 3.1.8 on Mac Pro (Early 2008/Snow Leopard). I have a network interface connected on my Mac connected to a switch port configured as an 802.1Q VLAN Trunk. I have created 2 virtual interfaces on the Mac Pro, for individual VLANs. I can verify that I have connectivity to the Mac via the Virtual Interfaces. When I try to create a VM with a bridged interface to the virtual interface (vlan0), it gives the following error:

Failed to start the virtual machine SPLAT-GW1.
Malformed host interface networking name 'vlan0' (VERR_INTERNAL_ERROR).
Unknown error creating VM (VERR_INTERNAL_ERROR).

Details

Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
Component: Console
Interface: IConsole {6375231a-c17c-464b-92cb-ae9e128d71c3}

No problems if I remove the interface.
