GA + xorg 1.8?

Hello,

I was wondering if anybody has had success with Guest Additions and the latest xorg release? I'm running a prerelease of Fedora13(64bit) guest which uses the latest released version of X (xorg-x11-server-1.8.0-12.fc13.src.rpm).

I was able to compile and install GA with no warnings or error messages. But, by default, the screen will not resize and the mouse is not seemless. I've read somewhere that xorg 1.8 uses a completely new configuration system, so perhaps this is part of the problem... Any help appreciated.

Have you tried 3.2.0 beta yet? If not, give it a go. Remember that FC13 is still in development, so it's not supported yet due to possible last minute changes. The devs also need to read up on the API changes in the new Xorg version and adjust the GA accordingly. This can take some time and might not make it to 3.2.0 final. Let's hope that the first update of 3.2 (3.2.2) will have support for it. Pray (if you are religious ;)) that 3.2.0 has support. As always, we can't guarantee this.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried 3.2beta3 and reinstalled GA... One improvement is that the mouse is now semi-seemless (there is no clicking required to activate the cursor in the guest, but the cursor remains visible in guest while cursor is in host screen), but the window still does not resize. It was worth a shot.

The mouse is because of the new feature: tablet. Full support isn't there yet it seems. Wait patiently and hope for the best. I think the devs know about this.

I just upgraded from 3.2beta3 to 3.2.0, and now Guest Additions works perfectly with Fedora13prerelease. The window resizes perfectly and mouse transition is smooth.

Thanks to the developers!
