Xen is relinquishing VGA console

Post by dzaz »

I just installed a clean installation of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 in Sun Virtual Box (Host OS: Windows XP).

When booting up, it stops with the following error message:

Xen is relinquishing VGA console.

Does anyone have any suggestions about how I might troubleshoot this? Are there known issues running Virtual Box with Red Hat Enterprise Linux?

Thanks!

When installing RHEL, don't select it to use for virtualisation. Xen is a type-1 hypervisor*, meant for virtual machines in the same way VB does (though VB is a type-2 hypervisor*) and they don't play well together.

*see wikipedia if you don't know what a hypervisor is.
