Personalized keyboard layout

Hi Folks,

Host: Debian Testing
Guest: Debian Testing

I realise that this is a bit of a long shot but I'm using the programmer dvorak layout from http://www.kaufmann.no/roland/dvorak/ on my host box. When using VirtualBox none of the numbers and associated punctuation across the top of the keyboard are picked up by the guest OS. This also applies to the -=]#\ keys. Is there any way I can fix this without reverting to my normal British English layout?
