I installed VB 3.1.4.0 in XP sp3 host with XP sp2 guest.
I loaded the drivers to install the modem in the guest. And it list it when I try to install new hardware but I have to manually pick it.
But the XP guest does not install it apparently because it does not see the Agere 2.0 USB 56K modem on the host.
Spent about 4 hours reviewing post but still not sure how to connect the modem.
From what little i understand I may have to connect the guest thu a home network. I have never setup any network on my host and when I tried it it did not work. I would appreciate if someone could provide simple instructions to do this if is is the solution to having internet connect on my guest. I am trying to setup VB such that I can use it as my primary and create snapshots so I can go back if I run into problems when installing new software or have intrusion problems.
Thank you.

Re: simple XP instructions for 56k USB modem
I'm having a similar problem.
My Ubuntu 10.04 LTS host detects the modme as Agere, I have all the drivers in WinXP but when I install it...
VirtualBox can't use it, it hangs.
I tried it on a Normal "not vritual machine" physical Windows Xp and it works fine.
What seems to be the problem? Help!
