WinXP Network Issue

So I installed WinXP Guest OS in VirtualBox on my Mac OS. I am having trouble seeing other networked computers on my network. I'm in the same workgroup and I see my networked Ubuntu Server but I can't seem to see my Win7 or Vista laptops on the network. I'm still fairly new to VirtualBox so I suggestions would be appreciated. Oh and connecting to the internet via the Guest OS works fine, just no local connection except Ubuntu.

For network discovery you would need to be in Bridged mode. If you installed using the defaults you are using NAT mode and that will be your problem.
Note: For Bridged mode to work you would need a router in the network.
See Chapter 6. Virtual networking in your VirtualBox Users Guide.

Yeah I found the Bridged Mode and that is what I'm in currently. I try to ping other computers and trying pinging the virtualbox to so such luck.
It doesn't make sense I could see my Ubuntu server on the network but not my Windows boxes.
Let me look at the chapter 6 you mentioned in the mean time. Thanks.
**EDIT**
When in starting my WinXP guest, I see my IP address and my subnet and gateway match my other computers to. Networking as you can tell is not my strong suit.

Then I would look closely how the guest is setup. Starting with Vista and Win 7 they usually don't have the network discovery started. Also Firewalls will cause this.

Solution found. Idiot I am forgot I had VirtualBox installed on my Win7 machine and it was having a conflict with my other network adaptor. So I uninstalled VirtualBox and bam, I can see other computers and connect to then.
Thanks for your help.
You can call me noob from now on! HAHAHA!
