windows xp guest: is OEM fine?

Post by gabor »

hi,

i need to do webpage-testing in internet-explorer, so i need windows (probably XP) in virtualbox.
additionally, i will have 3 copies of the image (for the various internet-explorer versions).
the question is, will windows xp OEM work fine in this scenario?
(for example, will it not have problems when i have 3 copies of it?)
i would prefer to use the OEM version, because it's cheaper (and this being a macbook,
there never was a windows on it, so i think it's fine even from the license-point...),
but if it won't work fine, i will have to choose the 'normal' version.

You shouldn't run in to any problems as I did a Dell OEM install in to VirtualBox at work for testing purposes. I've had no issues with cloning the machine to test installation scripts and the like.

Edit: Forgot to mention the host is a Dell machine running Windows.
