No Network Connectivity with XP Pro guest

I have never used VB, but have a need for native IE so I downloaded and installed VB 3.1.6 and 64-Bit XP Pro. Both installs went smoothly. However, I can't access the internet from within the guest OS. When I try to set-up manually XP says "The wizard cannot find your network hardware."

Whereas VB says that Adapter 1 is enabled attached to NAT using adapter type Intel PRO/1000 MT Desktop (8254OEM) with a Mac Address and the "Cable connected" box is checked.

I have also tried Bridged Adapter "en1" AirPort" and "en0: Ethernet" with no success.

I typically connect to the internet using the internal AirPort wirelessly to an AirPort extreme base station which is connected to a cable modem and have no problems connecting in the native OSX enviroment (Leopard).

The only thing else I can think of is that I use WPA2 security protocols. Could that be effecting the guest OS (not sure if XP Pro supports??)?

OK, after digging through the boards and the included manual I found the following:

"The PCNet FAST III is the default because it is supported by nearly all operating
systems out of the box, as well as the GNU GRUB boot manager. As an exception,
the Intel PRO/1000 family adapters are chosen for some guest operating system types
that no longer ship with drivers for the PCNet card, such asWindows Vista; see chapter
4.3.5, Windows Vista networking, page 65 for details."

Although the comment doesn't reference XP PRO at all changing the virtual hardware from the default Intel PRO/1000 MT Desktop (82540OEM) to the PCNet FAST III immediately fixed the problem.
