Scan For New Hardware Resets VM
I am running a Windows XP Pro 32bit VM on a Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit machine. Everytime I am in the VM and I select scan new hardware in the device manager, My VM resets. Any reason why this might be happening?

Re: Scan For New Hardware Resets VM
I noticed the same thing on my Win XP 32 bit VM when I played around with SATA Controller and its drivers installed in the guest OS.
After switching back to IDE and removing the SATA driver it was fine again.

Re: Scan For New Hardware Resets VM
So you think the fact that I am running my virtual hard drive with a SATA controller instead of an IDE controller is causing the reset problem when I scan for new hardware?

Anyone else experiencing this problem?

Me too, with SATA controller enabled the scan hardware wizard causes a reset in XP

Re: Scan For New Hardware Resets VM
What do you mean by reset? I just did a scan for new hardware in a Windows XP Pro SP3 VM which has a SATA controller set up and nothing unusual happened.
