Hey,
I installed VirtualBox 3.1.6 on a macbook pro, installed windows 7 32-bit and works great. I tried installing nvidia 9M series drivers with no success, it says I don't have the hardware. Can anyone who have installed video drivers for Geforce 9400M or 9600M GT. I can't get it to install on the windows 7 virtual.
The only problem I have is that I need to use 3ds Max, and I install 3ds Max, but the viewports somehow don't refresh. It keeps displaying what is on the background. I tested installing 3ds max on a win 7 machine and it works great, so I imagine that the graphics card on the virtual win 7 it doesn't have the correct drivers.
Thanks in advance for any kind of advice.
Alvaro

You can not install 3rd party video drivers on the guest. It must use the VirtualBox drivers or VESA.
The best hope you have is to install the guest additions (on the guest) while the guest is booted in safe mode.
See Chapter 4.9. Hardware 3D acceleration (OpenGL and Direct3D 8/9) in your VBox Users Guide.

Try enable 3D acceleration option under settings->display also increase your video memory

Re: Win 7 Video Driver, running it on Macbook Pro VirtualBox
hello:
I'm running the same, the driver thing is a pain - Houdini 10 is virtually unusable (pun intended)
but good news, max will work - goto the customize/prefs/ window, select the viewports tab, at the bottom there is a reset direct x button or something - change setting to OpenGL and it'll work fine.
k!

Re: Win 7 Video Driver, running it on Macbook Pro VirtualBox
Guys, sorry to be a pain here but I was wondering if someone knows where I can download the above driver and if they might also have directions. I haven't used windows in years and am pretty out of the loop. Thanks in advance! Mark
