Need Bigger Resolution (2560x1440) with RHEL 5.5 Guest

I just booted my RHEL 5.5 native raw disk installation virtually and installed the guest additions.
My host OS is Mac OS X 10.6.2 with 64-bit kernel enabled. I have two monitors on my iMac, the
built-in one that runs at 2560x1440 and a secondary LCD display running at 1600x1200.

However it seems the new X configuration for the RHEL guest limits me to a maximum resolution
of 1600x1200. While I know its impossible to the resolution to automatically change with changes
in the window size with the version of Xorg included with RHEL 5.5. I would at least like to run
the "virtual monitor" at a higher resolution so when I go full screen it is truly full screen.

I know xrandr and VBoxXRandR are there to change the resolutions, but it seems they can only
change between known supported resolutions. In this case the resolutions I want to run are not
showing up in the Screen Resolution switching applet as supported (i.e.: the maximum size
I can choose from is 1600x1200).

The resolutions I would like to run are:
2560x1440, 2560x1200, and 1900x1200

Additionally, I have second monitor that is 1600x1200 -- sometimes I like to span the two
monitors and in that case it would be nice to be able to run a resolution of 3500x1200.

How can I get the virtual video to show support for these higher resolution settings so I can
then manually switch between them via the resolution applet or command-line VBoxXRandR.

I already tried increasing the video RAM to 128MB -- no luck there.

Thanks in advance for your help.

There are new GuestAdditions released for RHEL 5.x, that will allow those resolutions.

About multi-monitor: you can simply stretch your RHEL 5 window to two monitors. This will work in windowed mode only, not in full-screen and not in seamless mode. But install the new additions first.

Can you try it and report back ?
