Stuck in installing Ubuntu

Host : Win XP Pro sp2
Guest to be : Trying to install Ubuntu 9.04 from a live DVD .

Problem:
At the end of the installation, screen becomes black and white.
The last 2 lines of the wordings are:
Ubuntu 9.04 ubuntu tty 1
Ubuntu login:_ User's name raymon is input here. Then shows up another line:
Password:_ Password is input here. Then shows up another line:
raymon@ubuntu:~$ I do not know how to deal with this.

I think the installation was not correct. You must enter a user name and must check the option "automatic login" during the installataion.

I will do another installation and pay attention to the "automatic login" during the process.

My own mistake.
I use live DVD for installation.
There are 13 OSs on the DVD for users to choose.
At the the options where user selects an OS to install, a tap on the spacebar is required.
I missed this, and, therefore, Ubuntu was not properly installed.
