Migrating Linux

I don't see anywhere for a guide on how to migrate linux, how do I do this? Seems selecting a vmdk as the hdd is not enough to work.

Crystal Bowls are in inspection. So its your turn to post infos (VBOX Version, Settings, Guest Version, type of vmware image).

Guest: Debian Lenny with kernel 2.6.26 with encrypted root LVM
Virtual Media Manager states the image as: Normal (VMDK)

true, as debian cant find /dev/sda on IDE Primary master, this still would be /dev/hda with debian

coming from vmware? could be necessary to add a SCSI maybe Buslogic controller and attach it there
