Import Appliance Problem

Hi, I've recently moved from Linux Mint to Mac OSX, what I want here is to run my virtualized XP OS under Mac OSX virtualbox, and keep all my stuff like installed aplications.

To do so, I exported my XP virtual machine in .ovf format from my Linux OS, and imported to Virtualbox on Mac OSX, after disable "VT-x/AMD-V" the machine works, but when I try to restart, or just shut down it goes into the known windows blue screen and it does not work anymore, even closing the machine, and starting again it always goes into the blue screen.

I've also attempted to just create a new machine with my backed up .vdi hard disk, it works fine, but is not up to date, I mean, it is like a recently installed XP, don't have all my installed applications, and this is the important thing.

How can I open/import my old XP machine with all my stuff inside?

I recommend copying the latest virtual disk and attaching it to a new VM under OS X. I successfully moved a Windows 2008 virtual disk image from Kubuntu to OS X and attached it to a new virtual machine I created with the same settings. It had everything. If you got an old image maybe you accidentally copied an old snapshot and not the latest image.

Many thanks for your reply, I have copied and attached again, to a new virtual machine, works but still the same problem.

What do you mean with "the latest virtual disk"? The .vdi placed in "/user folder/.VirtualBox/HardDisks/"? If so, this is the one I used, so don't know what else to do.

That sounds right. Not sure what to tell you. I never observed anything odd when I moved my disk file from one OS to another. I did have problems porting the virtual machine configuration. It was a smooth process when I created a new VM and attached the pre-existing disk file.

Solved! The problem was a snapshot so after deleting it, take the VDI file to the Mac OS machine, and attached to a new machine, everything perfect!

Thanks a lot!
