Install Failed: 3.1.6 on Intel Mac Os X 10.5.8 Solution

After running into this and going through some hoops, here's the solution that worked for me.
1. Run the VirtualBox_Uninstall.tool
2. Reboot the machine (this important to let go of some loaded drivers)
3. Then install the VirtualBox.mpkg
This probably needs to be done whenever you install a new version of Virtual Box.
