I am using Win 7 as a host to Ubuntu 9.10. Whenever I start my ubuntu it says that my color setting are not correct and that I need to select 32 bit colors. When I go to display setting for ubuntu I see no option to change the color setting.
Also the full screen mode still shows me a window of the OS while the VB window goes full screen. I have already installed guest additions and have checked auto resize window.

Re: Problem with display
Are you sure that the guest additions are installed (in the guest) ?
You problem seems to indicate there is a problem with the guest additions or there are mode entries in the /etc/X11/xorg.conf.
Post the xorg.conf here and we will take a look. Also which version of VBox are you using?

Re: Problem with display
Yes. I am sure I installed it in Ubuntu using command lines I got from the internet, which involved mounting the addition iso on Ubuntu and command lines:
cd /media/cdrom
sudo ./VBoxLinuxAdditons-x86.run.
I am using VB 3.1.4.
Though I want to point out that mouse integration works perfectly. I could not find xorg.conf file. I am attaching a screenshot of all the files and folders in X11.

Re: Problem with display
with a few restarts to guest OS and Host OS, the auto resize is working. The problem with the color is still there. Do you still need those files?

Re: Problem with display
No. Plus if everything is working as it should you can dismiss that warning. I get them too on new installs. There is a check mark you can put in that will keep it from showing again.

Re: Problem with display
Strangely, today the mouse integration is gone. I need to click in the guest OS screen to capture any mouse movement. I checked in machine->disable mouse integration and it is greyed out.
I am using Win XP with guest additions installed. They cause no problem at all. So I dont think it is the fault of VB or my host OS.
