XP Host BSOD upon startup

Post by mdahman »

Hello.

I am running Virtual Box 3.1.4 on snow leopard. An XP guest that was P to V'd into a vmdk file with vmware's tool was working for over a week but now blue screens upon startup with:

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
STOP 0x00000078 (0xF78AE528, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

XP comes up with the safe boot menu but any option (normal boot, safe mode, safe mode with networking, safe mode with command prompt, restore to last working state) all don't get past the BSOD.

I have no idea how to troubleshoot this. I have disabled USB and unchecked "Enable IO APIC" but it keeps crashing. "Enable IO APIC" seems to keep getting checked though when I review the settings.

Any help is appreciated.
