USB Issue - Updates slower with Oracle?
Like everyone else, I have problems with USB. It essentially borks my reason to use Virtualbox as I do technical work utilizing USB devices quite a bit. USB being such a basic function, why in the world do they not put out an update? I realize there are other bugs but again USB is so basic it is like waiting to fix a radio in the car when the driver side door is missing.

Do you have an HP USB printer attached to the host?
Also your profile states Windows Vista as host and this is posted in the Mac OS X Hosts. which is it?

Sorry Perry but you are wrong on both counts. I have neither a HP printer nor am I on a Windows Vista host.Perryg wrote:Do you have an HP USB printer attached to the host?

OSX 10.6.2 host running Windows 7 32 bit. In addition, I am not sure of your intentions. With all due respect, your profile states Ubuntu other as host and guest as everything. Is it Kubuntu or Xubuntu and Commodore 64, Win 3.1, CentOS or Atari 2600. I think you see my point.
The fact remains usb support in 3.1.4 is seriously lacking and my analogy still stands. The door on my car is missing and the mechanic is trying to fix the radio. Oracle needs to fix and update ASAP instead of waiting for a big group of fixes. A 3.1.4.1 would even work.
For what it is worth. I actually removed 3.1.4 and went back to the last major release of 3.1.0 and usb works like it should. 3.1.2 and 3.1.4 are gimped minor "updates".

What do you expect? You have a running version and paid nothing. So be patient.
Im not from Oracle/Sun/Innotek, but i think we cant expect more than this. VBOX is great software with fast feature enhancements.
So its possible for some features not working in a new version.

Re: USB Issue - Updates slower with Oracle?
nerohdam,
I asked because I WAS trying to track down your problem. I run everything as it states as guest that will run on VirtualBox and I have several types of hosts but am only allowed to put one type in the primary host.
I asked about the host OS because you stated Windows Vista in your profile (which I see has changed) and I know of some issues and resolves.
I also know of issues and resolves for MAC.
But since you know everything and prefer to insult rather then a simple reply I will be unable able to help you .
