USB problem with Nokia devices and version 3.1.4 of VB

Post by jussike »

I'm using Mac OS X 10.5.6 host and Windows XP guest OS. I have used Nokia PC Suite on guest XP. After update VirtualBox 3.1.2 to 3.1.4 XP doesn't find Nokia devices at all.

After downgrade to 3.1.2 it works again.

I note that:
On version 3.1.2 all USB devices for the guest have to be connected AFTER booting the guest OS.
On version 3.1.4 all USB devices for the guest have to be connected BEFORE booting the guest OS.
Maybe this makes the problem?

I'm having a similar problem, cannot connect my Nokia E71. Tried 3.1.4 initially, didn't work, then tried 3.1.2. worked fine. 3.1.4 kept telling me the device is being used by somebody else. Looking at other posts here it seems that there is a problem with Mac OS VB 3.1.4 and USB

Same problem (... is in use by somebody else) with Nokia N95 8GB, VB 3.1.6 and OSX 10.6.2. Downgrad to VB 3.1.2 or VB 3.1.4 doesn´t solve the problem.

VB 3.2.0. has not fixed my USB problems with Nokia N95 8GB, Garmin Nuvi 660 and Mares Puck. In the meantime I've spent too many hours with VB and my Mac. So I´ve payed 79 Euro to Parallels and after half an hour of installation everything works fine. VB, sorry and goodbye.
