Problem converting from Parallels 3 to virtualbox

hi, I really want to switch to virtualbox, but cannot succeed converting my XP virtual disk that now operates in Parallels 3.
I updated the mac os to 10.6 (snow leopard) and parallels 3 no longer works. So I followed instructions found online.

1. run parallels (still runs, barely) and remove parallel tools
2. (using VMware) convert the HP disk to a new disk
3. import it in virtualbox

1. worked ok. I can boot and confirm parallel tools are gone.
Because I'm having trouble I also ran the MergeIDE utility suggested in the wiki
http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Migrate_Windows

Still, I only get the BSOD, with the VM crashing on startup.
Took me a while to find out that by holdign down the up arrow I can
actually stop the BSOD screen to read the error message.

Stop: 0x000000FB ...

Since the process is not working, I tried to convert the XP file in two ways:
- using VMware (import a parallels disk)
- using VMware converter

spending a lot of time since it's converting ~30GB every time!
In both cases I got the same BSOD.

What's wrong?? If this helps, I get the same problem if I try to open the converted files with VMware.

Can you boot into safemode? look into the eventlogs for more details about the bsod.

Worked it out. Ran the MergeIDE tools again (there is a second file that I had not run the first time).
All works ok now. On to getting the USB sticks to be seen in my virtualbox...

and with some doing that worked as well.
Installing Guest additions twice did the trick, and now I can use the

net x: \\vboxsvr\nameofdisk

to mount the disk (provided I defined it in the shared folders).
