Some context:
VirtualBox 3.1.4
Host OS: Mac Leopard
VM OS: Windows 7
From devices list menu, I can see the USB device. When I click the device, I got below error:
Failed to attach the USB device OMNIKEY AG Smart Card Reader USB [0302] to the virtual machine w7.
USB device 'OMNIKEY AG Smart Card Reader USB' with UUID {905bc056-8144-4d01-896a-5f430b33d881} is in use by someone else.
Does anybody know how to fix?

I don't know how to fix it, but recently my WinXP vm running on Leopard stopped mounting usb drives. 
When I minimized the vm, I found the usb drives are mounting in the host. I don't know why, but this started after I updated to 3.1.4. Not sure if it is due to that or some Mac update. Is this what yours is doing?
