Problems with USB audio adapter

Post by troy »

Hi there.

I have a 6-channel Zalmon ZM-RSSC V2 USB audio adapter plugged into my late 2009 27" iMac. I'm hosting Windows XP on VBox 3.1.12 (latest version caused kernel panics).

Sound works fine when run through the Mac's built-in audio system. When run through the USB adapater, however, the audio is heavily distorted and "tinny". This was the also the case on my previous iMac, so I'm inclined that the problem is between the adapter and VBox, instead of something else.

I did notice in the Audio MIDI Settings that my adapter is only capable of 16 bit output. The Mac's built in system is capable of 24 bit, and VBox is singing the wrong tune for the adapter. On a hunch, I tried changing my controller to SoundBlaster 16, with no improvement.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
