3.1.4 USB keypad no longer recognized (was on 3.1.2)

I have a Logitech wireless numeric keypad (Cordless Number Pad 920-000222) that I have successfully used with my XP guest. It is essential to my workflow, since I have no other way to input certain characters on the fly.
It worked fine in VB 3.1.2 and previous versions. Now I've installed 3.1.4 and it no longer works. The following are "grayed out" in VB under Devices>USB Devices: "Logitech USB receiver [4600]" and "Logitech Number Pad [0100]".
This device was never usable to the Mac side, but somehow worked for the XP guest (see http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=17914 for a previous thread when I was trying to get a way to input such characters).
Does anyone know what changed in 3.1.4 that affects this and how to change it so it'll work again? I read this thread about USB and COM ports (http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic. ... .4#p125892), but I don't think it really applies to my case. I am not really too excited about going back to 3.1.2 since it means I'm "stuck" with no future enhancements of VB.
(N.B. I also recently moved from Mac OS 10.5.8 (Leopard) to 10.6.2 (Snow Leopard). I didn't think to specifically verify that the numeric keypad worked after that upgrade, but I think it did. It's only been a few days, and I don't remember if I used the keypad since then.)
